How Does IV Sedation Work?

IV (or Intravenous) sedation is administered intravenously by a specialist who comes to the office. This technique helps the sedative take effect very quickly, and our team can adjust the dosage whenever needed to ensure the patient’s safety and comfort. Patients may remain awake throughout their procedure, but it is likely that they will not remember much of anything about the experience. We can also help patients fall asleep with a higher dosage of medication so that they are completely unaware of what is going on around them.

In addition, Dr. Neale may also recommend IV sedation for patients with highly sensitive gag reflexes or who are too young to sit still for long procedures under their own power.

Called at 9am to make an appointment because one of my wisdom teeth broke they got me in at 10am. Asked me if I wanted to go ahead and have all 4 wisdom teeth removed, as well as several fillings & a cleaning. So I did & I was VERY pleased with how well it went. All the girls were so friendly! Dr. Neale was so amazing & they made sure I was comfortable for the entire thing.

Dr Aaron Neale and his staff are wonderful! They are so kind and compassionate, they make you feel comfortable, and listen to their patients. I had avoided going to the dentist for so long prior because my experience at other dentist just wasn’t good. Dr Neale and his staff are so good, I didn’t feel anything with my extraction or my root canal, not even the shots to numb the area! I won’t go anywhere else!

This is the ONLY dentist I will ever take my daughters to. The entire staff has made dental visits no longer traumatized for my girls. Dr. Neale, himself has stopped working on other clients and made sure that when my girls were on the verge of having a meltdown, that they were able to get back down to their normal breathing and sweet hearted natures. Everyone in his office and on his staff, from the moment you Walk into the office, take their own time and special approach all to assure you of the best, care possible, without the fear, trauma, and brutal methods alot of other dentist s use to " manage" small children. The members of Blackwell dentistry actually do care about each and every patient they see, and I am grateful my girls are no longer fearful or having panic attacks when I inform them that their visit is due. Thank you guys so much for the time, patience, and care you give us each and every visit!!
